On tap at Abominable Snowfest, luxuriously exalted robust stout (aged 8 years) gained bourbon-tinged sweetness to caress creamy brown chocolate richness. Beyond the molasses-draped bourbon chocolate galaxy, black cherry tartness and candied apple spicing dapple black forest-caked chocolate cupcake, cocoa, espresso, vanilla and crème de cacao illusions.
GUN HILL ANTI-IMPERIALIST STOUT
Excellent black forest-caked dessert treat. Ample chocolate fudging gathers alongside black cherry-pureed sweetness to contrast milder hop-charred earthiness. Subtle chocolate truffle, coconut, black cocoa, molasses and hazelnut undertones reinforce rich mocha splendor.
GUN HILL FROSTED HOP STRONG ALE
Reliable IPA-fruited strong ale (8.8% ABV) contrasts homegrown wet-hopped green grass astingency against modest demerara-sugared crystal malting. Zesty lemon-orange-pineapple tang gains sinister honeydew-melon respite as moderate alcohol burn singes the fruitful finish.
GUN HILL INDIA PALE ALE
Soothing mid-range best seller (pictured in center) brings tempered Simcoe-Citra hop fruiting to mild pine bittering and reedy grain astringency. Nearly understated, its lightly spiced grapefruit, orange, tangerine and pineapple tang picks up a gentle lemon zest spritz. Delicate citric acidity brightens the sunshiny fruited finish. A perfectly centrist moderate-to-medium-bodied East Coast IPA.
NEWBURGH MEGA BOSS IPA
On tap at Abominable Snowfest, easygoing IPA finds middle ground with its gentle tropical fruiting, lemony herbal respite and grassy hop astringency. While not as ‘radical’ as its moniker suggests, the sunny grapefruit blitz and subtle mango-pineapple conflux remain smooth and never too bitter, inviting lighter pale ale thirsts.
KEEGAN BINE CLIMBER SESSION IPA
On tap at Abominable Snowfest, sessionable summertime moderation (a.k.a. Longest Day) allows light floral bouquet to decorate bright citrus display over light mineral graining. Lemony grapefruit-pineapple tang grabs hold.
KELSO INDIA PALE ALE
Easy drinking, hazy-browned, aridly dry IPA connects subtle passionfruit-laden Nelson Sauvin hops to tidy Cascade-hopped orange, grapefruit and pineapple bittering above light pale crystal malting. Resinous pine snip, mossy leaf lick and watery celery quip backup citric-spiced perfuming. Serve to English-styled IPA buffs as mildly updated crossover (instead of typical West Coast styling).
KELSO NUT BROWN LAGER
Utilizing lager yeast and melanodin Munich malting to defiantly create nut brown ‘ale’ offshoot, crisply clean moderation placates walnut-charred hazelnut, pecan and chestnut roast with scorched earth respite. Subtle black-breaded chocolate truffle, toffee, molasses and rye illusions relegated to back end.
KELSO FLEMISH RED
On tap at Abominable Snowfest (aged two years in French oak barrels), heavily acidic sour ale ain’t for the faint of heart but will delight all brettanomyces punks. Oaken cherry tartness heightens vinous yellow grape tannins, sharp lemon-juiced Italian vinaigrette pungency and sour red raspberry pucker over leathery horse-blanketed acridity.
LIC BEER PROJECT ARDENT CORE
Casual sour ale crossover offers spontaneous brettanomyces-cultured saison yeast affectations to yellow-fruited floral spicing. White-peppered lemon and pineapple-candied tartness contrasts less effective cardamom-coriander spicing over mineral water cleansing.
LIC BEER PROJECT GRISETTE
Silken fresh-squeezed lemon souring and vinous green grape tannins embed lactobacillus leathering of soft-toned, saison-likened grisette (a.k.a. Table Sour). Farmhouse-funked spelt graining infiltrates latent grape vinaigrette pucker as well as lesser mandarin orange, white peach and tangerine illusions. An approachable sour ale made to suit a wide range of beer hounds.
LIC BEER PROJECT WONDERLIC
Sessionable Belgian-styled pale ale lets “aggressive Amarillo-Saaz hops” provide earthen yellow wood bittering and tart lemon-limed resilience to gently spiced crystal malt backbone.
