BIG BOSS HELL’S BELLE BELGIAN STYLE ALE

Murky medium-bodied Belgian-style blonde ale with saison-like sour fruiting, mild peppery hop spicing and fungi yeast mustiness weighed down by ethanol astringency. Unspecific orange-peeled coriander and clove spicing fades into the mist as inconsistent green apple, peach and pineapple tartness gets buried beneath. Salted white and black peppering seasons the backend and a hint of pink peppercorn rides slipshod.

JOLLY PUMPKIN LUCIERNAGA (THE FIREFLY)

Silken Belgian pale ale hybridizes brettanomyces-laden Sour Ale acidity with tart Saison inklings. Light coriander salting sways tropical lemon-pitted grains of paradise, white peach, kumquat, mango, passionfruit and green apple balm as well as vinous white-wined grape pucker. Acrid horse-blanketed barnyard leathering, oaken vanilla tannins and balsamic vinaigrette oiling underline briny sour fruited nature. Herbal rosemary-sage-thyme conflux adds further depth. On tap at Ambulance, 2017 version of oak-aged delight retained herbaceous tropical fruit souring and gained mild peppery respite.

HOF TEN DORMAAL BARREL-AGED #9 BELGIAN BLOND (GRAPPA BARRELS)

Perplexingly complex nickel-hued Belgian Blond (aged in grappa barrels) picks up vinous red grape tartness, carbolic Brut champagne sweetness and brandy-soaked vodka fusels above musky fungi yeast strain.
