Unfiltered copper-kettled American-styled German wheat offers sweet barley-breaded crust, delicate leathery hay restraint, and tamped down hop fizz to soapy banana-clove finish. Initial wheat cereal theme compromised by soft water balm. Brewery defunct: 2007.

HARPOON UFO HEFEWEIZEN
Vacuous unfiltered wheat with colorful novelty label, musty crystal malt flow, and mild sourdough inertia. Unfortunately, brisk water texture and mild citric hop finish turn metallic while blanched wheat presence subsides. However, softer sessionable 2021 version improved flavor profile as lemon-dropped banana tartness gained marginal clove-coriander spicing and distant whiskey nip.

ROGUE MO ALE HEFE WEIZEN
Unfiltered – Agitate Before Pouring claimed the label – so we shook the sucker up before opening. Tasted fine, too (although a tad watery and less wine-like than most wheat ales). Coriander, nutmeg, and ginger caress smoky malt resin, providing distinguished creamy ‘weizen’ with spicy wintry positivity. Note: originally named after Mo’s Restaurant founder, then changed to MoM Hefeweizen.
