On tap at Track 84, wonderful Imperial India Pale Ale’s brisk ruby red grapefruit tang and lemony orange-peeled bittering ascend above fresh hop-spiced evergreen pining. Tertiary peach, tangerine and navel orange illusions secure bitter citric intrigue.   

On tap at Shepherd & Knucklehead, well-rounded medium-full body spreads lustrous spiced fruiting across pine-needled hop bittering and biscuit-y malts. Lemony orange, grapefruit, pineapple and mango tropicalia brightens summery mood as latent apple, pear and peach undertones increase juicy fruited profile. Light peppercorn insistence bumps up against crisp celery watering at backend.

Pedestrian limited edition IPA lacks ‘imperial’ strength, sharpness and pizzazz. Instead, dankly dry grapefruit-orange tartness gets murky, distant piney hop bittering falters and mild sugared spicing dissipates. Just too lackluster, even for indiscriminate centrists.

On tap at Ambulance, stylishly easygoing Imperial IPA (2015 limited edition version celebrating 4-20 pot icon Waldo) brings subtle floral-perfumed botanical herbage, moderate piney hop resin and dank hemp oiling to tropical fruited sensation. Sharp grapefruit-peeled orange and pineapple bittering contrasted by tangy peach, mango, apple and nectarine sweetness. 

On tap at Ambulance, sharp citrus hop bite leads the charge above candied malting of tropical Belgian-styled India Pale Ale. Zesty grapefruit-peeled orange rind bittering and light alcohol burn contrast navel orange, clementine, tangerine, mango and pineapple tang.

Dazzling full-bodied rust-hued India Pale Ale spreads chewy cookie dough yeast across stylish piney grapefruit peel bittering and floral-perfumed citric hops, creating a rich intensity not far removed from stellar Ipswich IPA. Bustling honey-spiced caramel malting, sugared almond-praline-chestnut conflux and mild toffee sweetness furnish tangy bruised orange, candied apple, cherry liqueur, marmalade jelly, nectarine, pineapple, tangerine, melon, peach and apricot vibrancy to its biscuit-y bottom. Sugary spruce oiling deepens the juicy-fruited aspect. Highly recommended.    

On tap at Ambulance, cask conditioned Citra-hopped version of easygoing Big Daddy brings gentle creaminess to mild lemony orange-peeled grapefruit rind bittering and sweet-spiced peach-tangerine-melon tang. A soft-toned winner.

On tap at New York Wing Factory, vibrant Imperial India Pale Ale equally distributes its prickly grapefruit-peeled bittering and herbal hop bite with luscious orange, apple and peach juicing. Sugary caramel malting keeps the pleasing fructose-sucrose sweetness on par with the well-hidden 10.3% alcohol astringency and bitter citrus rind finish.

Intense hophead delight delivers briskly sharp grapefruit-peeled orange rind bittering to sweet peach, pineapple, mango, tangerine and nectarine tang. Thick pine resin coarsens the clean citric-spiced Warrior hop bite above biscuity rye malting.
