LAGUNITAS SUCKS

Alluring gold-hazed Imperial IPA, brewed during Lagunitas Brown Shugga’s temporary demise, brings ‘joyously dry-hopped cereal medley’ to luscious tropical fruiting. Bright floral-perfumed lemon zest, orange peel and grapefruit rind crisping embitters juicy pineapple, tangerine, peach, mango, kiwi and passion fruit illusions over honeyed rye-oats base. Wispy herbal spell underlies refreshing citric mist. When stirred, mild carbolic creaming ensues, pushing crystal malted sugaring to the forefront.

FLYING DOG SINGLE HOP CENTENNIAL IMPERIAL IPA

Judiciously flavored Alpha-hopped beauty (with hidden 10% alcohol luster) loads pine-fruited juiciness across floral juniper bittering to its biscuity dough bottom. Tropical mango-banana-pineapple-pear conflux and massive apple-candied sweetness contrast orange-peeled yellow grapefruit souring. Bright citric-floral Centennial hop aromatics prove stylishly authentic.

SHORT’S RAISIN APOLLO DOUBLE INDIA PALE ALE

Bold hop-head hybrid may lack true raisin flavoring, but its loud lemon-peeled grapefruit rind bittering and piney hop bite make up for the casual oversight. Fresh-cut grass wafts through ancillary mandarin orange, yellow grape, pineapple, mango and fig fruiting. Black-peppered earthen moss and skunky cannibas deepen its rangy profile and the aspirin-like medicinal pungency reinforces its bitter edge.

BREW KETTLE OLD 21 IMPERIAL INDIA PALE ALE

On tap at Chappy’s, vibrant tangy fruited full body seduces the senses immediately. Brisk grapefruit peel bittering, resinous hop oiling and sugary malt sweetness get captivated by luscious cherry-apricot-apple entry. Ripe orange-tangerine-pineapple-mango-raspberry blitzkrieg storms ahead, magnifying the zesty fruitful resilience and distant rosebud-dandelion-tulip bouquet. A terrific fruit cocktail.

PORT JEFF RUNAWAY FERRY IMPERIAL I.P.A.

Jubilant full-bodied merriment’s the pride of Strong Island. Cognac-spiked bruised orange overtones provide a tart lead-in above pine-sapped bittering hops and spicy floral nuances. Ripe cherry, cantaloupe, pineapple, peach and melon illusions add depth while buttery Chardonnay undertones receive a strong ‘whiskey back,’ affecting the fresh fruited finish, where a brazenly boozy alcohol burn awaits.

(LAUGHING DOG) SNEAKY PETE IMPERIAL I.P.A.

Charmingly complex medium-full body offers fresh-watered crisping to creamy caramel malting and brisk citric sashay. Prominent bruised orange fruiting picks up bosc pear, mango, pineapple and grapefruit illusions above whiskey-dabbed Belgian chocolate spicing, bringing great depth and clarity of purpose to endearingly expressive, well-balanced India Pale Ale styling. Further sips reveal spice-hopped pine comb bittering and resinous floral potpourri contrasting embedded cane sugared sweetness.

STARR HILL DOUBLE PLATINUM IMPERIAL INDIA PALE ALE

Dependable medium-bodied amber-cleared crossover for lighter pale ale thirsts despite bold 8% ABV and Double IPA tag. Casual citric-hopped bittering sticks to pine-sapped hemp-oiled tongue, but lacks thick resonation of richer stylistic competition. Sugar-caned caramel malt toasting embeds grapefruit-peeled orange rind prickle and sweet pineapple-mango-peach-pear-apricot conflux for nice contrast.
