Enthusiastic brown-bodied tan-headed stout porter catapulted by creamy chocolate richness, burnt caramel sweetness, and sugar malt titillation. Originally drank #58 and #210 of this sophisticated (formerly limited edition) bone-dry porter. Soured cranberry bean tartness, punctual raisin-fig conflux, and syrupy mocha malt residue overtake sinewy chocolate caking, settling to barleywine finish. Coffee undertones gain authority when given a few minutes to breathe in a glass. Brewery defunct: 2007.
LEFT HAND SMOKE JUMPER IMPERIAL PORTER
Exemplary black-bodied salami-wafted rauchbier-like baltic porter integrates bourbon-casked whiskey whir with frothy mocha tendencies. Chewy milk chocolate creaminess invades lactic frontage. Ancillary powdered cocoa, Blackstrap molasses and caramelized vanilla illusions seep into char-hopped hazelnut-macadamia-cashew clout as earthen moss bottom forms. Freshly crushed cherries absorb ‘several hardwood’ notions of cedar, hickory and oak. Anise hints deepen its backend bitterness. A triumphant lactose-laden slow sipper.
