Dry West Coast-styled IPA with sharp piney citrus blitzkrieg. Brisk lemony yellow grapefruit bittering, sweet orange peel spritz and salty pineapple zing receive musky black peppering and slight herbage atop toasty pale malting.

Interesting, but ultimately nebulous, collab with Counterweight (and brewed by Jack’s Abby), ripe banana esters from nubian South African hops waft thru setback orange-peeled grapefruit bittering, peachy ginger tea spot and candied lemon snip. Pithy pale malt-lagered powdered sugaring contrasts phenol herbage and dank pining before receding as quickly as its inceptive banana nose.
Canned version of ‘harmonious’ West Coast-styled IPA boasts sweet orange peel resonance, zesty lemon spritz, peachy pineapple tang, dry grapefruit bittering, green mango souring and slight tangerine twist. Floral-spiced citrus continuance gains vodka-like boozing (&% ABV) and crisp pine tones atop papery caramel malts.
Using organic barley-hops, Smart Beer became New York’s first organic brewery in 2016. Closer to a Brit-styled IPA with its dewy mossing and cellared fungi musk overtaking any bitter piney grapefruit expectancy – yet surprisingly diverting to dried-fruited raisin, prune and apricot sweetness. Molasses-honeyed sorghum syruping seems to coat the cocoa powdered bottom. A decent changeup.
