Crafted by Shipyard from Virgin Island’s St. John Brewery recipe. Jolly Rancher watermelon waft follows through to up-front flavoring, countering astringent wheat-husked yellow-fruited bittering. Hard-candied mango-strawberry tartness stays refreshingly summery at midst, but washed-out fuzzy peach, cantaloupe, and kiwi nuances get soapy.

Mild golden amber-tinted American salutation imbues steadfast Cascade-hopped organic graining with yeast-sweetened invigoration. Clean-watered barley crisping and subtle terra-cotta bitterness linger to unassertive citrus finish, recalling lilting red ale style. Goes well with an assortment of foods.

Crisp copper-hazed maltose-wafted dry body perks up honey-roasted barleymalt slack and black molasses sapping with brisk Cascade hop bittering to floral tart-fruited finish. Biscuit-y wheat spine embraces pekoe tea nuance. Enjoyable sweet n’ sour resonation.

Established in 1742, Samuel Whitbread’s captivating bitter features malted barley sweetness, moderate hop bittering, and sharp grained backbone.  Not far removed from a light brown ale, this ‘traditional pale ale’ now gets bottled by Boston Beer Company in Cincinnati for American consumption. Expert guzzlers may notice loss of character or lower flavor profile if familiar with original version. Sourdough informs dry Scotch-malted cocoa-fig-pecan cluster and minor grape tease, but phenol hops coarsen dirty-watered astringency, abating further investigation. Better to imbibe Bass Pale Ale instead.

Dark ruby hue counters light-bodied appeal and soft carbolic fizz of middling pale ale. Pallid barley-roasted mocha entry enhanced by caramel-candied cherry souring, mild chestnut ridge, and resin-hopped herbal twinge. Too meek to compete with better stylistic competitors. Simplicity is its saving grace.

Golden-hued butterscotch-sweetened pale ale relinquishes slight malt tingle and clean water texture to mellow cracked wheat insinuation. An understated brew in need of better up-front assertion.

Serene butterscotch-chocolate malting fades quickly to soapy tobacco-tea-mushroom scourge, dragging dry fruited esters to copper ale-like anonymity by dull finish. Brewery defunct: 2007.

Famous baseball legends sport labels-caps of these inconspicuous lagers. Sour malts fade to muted orange-peeled apricot midst before phenol nature gets best of dreary finish.

Ill-defined coppery pearl-headed English-styled pale ale lacks assertive resolve though roasted barley, buttery malts, and bitter-spiced floral hops compare favorably to Breckenridge’s similarly toasted Summerbright Ale. Watery finish dissolves sharp peach-grapefruit-tangerine array and wheat bread subtlety.
