Uniquely easygoing slightly sour IPA combines New Zealand-sourced hops (Peacharine/ Riwaka) with citric Mosaic hops given nifty Sauvignon Blanc grape skin extraction over buttery baguette toasting. Upfront, mellow lemony yellow grapefruit bittering usurped by subtle peach wine swoon, tingly green mango tang, slight nectarine sweetness and wispy pineapple snip, burying its herbal-tinged pine restraint.
STONE DOWNUNDERSTRUCK IMPERIAL IPA
“Exotic tropical fruiting” of re-created 2023 version of 2015 19th anniversary celebrator allows sunny lemon-peeled yellow grapefruit bittering to aggressively linger alongside floral perfumed spicing, bark-dried pining, ascending juniper bite and mild peppery herbage, picking up juicy pineapple, peach and orange tanginess then given stiff vodka-whisked 9% ABV.

On tap at Kitchen & Beer Bar, divergent hopped-up West Coast IPA (with unassuming 9.7% ABV) stays dry as dank pine resin seeps into dehydrated grapefruit-mango conflux, raw-honeyed orange blossom musk, dark floral mustiness and mild black peppering. More abstruse than complex.
STONE RUINTEN TRIPLE IPA
On tap at Kitchen & Beer Bar, ‘recklessly hoppy recipe’ celebrates 10 year anniversary of fabulous Ruination. But its muskily citric Centennial-Citra hop blend and the original’s piney floral perfuming are lacking. Instead, its candied orange stead never overcomes the iodine-stiffened boozy ethers.
STONE STOCHASTICITY PROJECT HIFI + LOFI MIXTAPE ALE
On tap at Kitchen & Beer Bar, blending an old strong ale with a lower gravity new beer in a red wine oak foudre, glassy vodka-fruited 8.8% ABV strong ale recalls an English barleywine for a sec with its toffee-spiced caramel alacrity. But then tannic oaken red wine esters, dry sherry leathering and barnyard acridity stumble into lemony grapefruit and orange briskness.
STONE BUENAVEZA SALT & LIME LAGER
On tap at Jealous Monk, crisply easygoing Baja-inspired Mexican lager places sea-salted lime zesting next to peppery agave perfuming in dry corn malt setting. In the can, briny citric zesting lacks resolve as papery pilsner malts and stale breading ground sea-salted lime adjunct and cologned agave snap.
STONE 25 ANNIVERSARY TRIPLE IPA
On tap at Kitchen & Beer Bar, overloaded 25th anniversary India Pale Ale blends seven hop varieties and marmalade-fruited expanse into hidden 12.5% ABV boozing. Tangy orange marmalade, peachy apricot jam, salted pineapple, tart lemon meringue, sweet cantaloupe and toasted coconut illusions ride above lightly creamed vanilla-daubed pale malting as dewy compost-wafted earthiness, lightly embittered pine resin and herbal lemongrass-peppercorn snip provide counterpoint.
STONE DELICIOUS IPA
Somewhat blandly ordinary reduced-gluten IPA lacks specific stylistic piney fruiting as gritty raw graining overwhelms lemondrop-candied tartness and orange-dried grapefruit spicing in mannered tea-like setting recalling a desiccated British IPA.
STONE LIQUID POEM DOUBLE IPA
On tap at Andy’s Corner Bar, zestful orange-peeled grapefruit bittering and peachy tangerine licks gain resinous spruce-tipped pining and grassy hop astringency over caramelized pale malts for dry West Coast-styled IPA one step better than middle-of-the-road pack.
STONE ENJOY BY 01.01.21 UNFILTERED IPA
Balancing “dank and fruity” hop varieties, unfiltered 9.4% ABV India Pale Ale maintains lightly creamed caramelization for intensified lemony grapefruit-orange tang and candied peach-pineapple-tangerine sweetness, leaving mild alcohol warmth on the smoothly clean mineral grained back end.
STONE VERTICAL EPIC ALE 08-08-08
Lavishly rich amber-hazed tripel/ IPA hybrid guides white peppered floral-spiced Belgian yeast thru effervescent American-hopped citrus zesting and vanilla-creamed banana and clove niceties above cinnamon-toasted cookie dough malting, leaving rum-sugared vodka nip on tannic green grape esters at the durably fulsome finish.
