Palest straw-hazed pearly-headed moderate body (bottled by nearby High Point Brewery) is supposed ‘twisted Belgian-styled wheat beer.’ Soft yellow-fruited summer appeal buttressed by musty lemongrass souring overriding earthen grassy-hopped barnyard, horse-blanket, and hay acridity. Raw-honeyed lemon pith midst lightly embitters peppery floral murk succumbed by lackluster white-breaded wheat spine. Brewery defunct: 2016.

LONGSHOT CRANBERRY WIT
Blurry beige-hazed puffy white-headed fruit ale hides sweet ‘n sour cranberry motif beneath softly acidic limey brimstone tartness, lemon-candied cherry-apple souring, and orange-peeled cinnamon-coriander spicing. Herbal raw-honeyed twinge seeps into white-breaded wheat spine. Light red-fruited finish tails off a tad.
(PHILADELPHIA) WALT WIT BELGIAN-STYLE WHITE ALE

CISCO THE GREY LADY (WIT)
Peculiarly refreshing yellow-hazed Belgian-styled witbier blends spices, herbs, and fruit nuances in silkily bizarre manner. Musty raw-honeyed banana souring grazes white-peppered spearmint-jasmine-ginger freshness and clove-coriander-chamomile-anise spicing, but advertised tropical fruiting is overrated. Quirky champagne-fizzed bruised apple, rotted apricot, white peach, and putrefied lemon illusions not as unpleasant as it sounds. Photo courtesy of www.halftimebeverage.com
SAMUEL ADAMS BLACKBERRY WITBIER
Fragrant black and blueberry mouthfeel more pronounced than phenol-hopped cranberry souring. Metallic twang soaks up tart fruited candy influence to soapy blackberry finish. Needs thicker malt seepage and sturdier white-breaded spine. On second passing, ripe blackberry-raspberry fruiting had firmer honeyed wheat spine and grazing Mandarin orange, tangerine, and peach snip.
CAPTAIN LAWRENCE SUNBLOCK WITTE
Summery pale straw witbier combines lean Belgian-like white peppered coriander-clove spicing with robust German-styled graining. A bit of a chameleon, its initial overripe banana sweetness recedes as lemon-soured orange peel bittering increases above carbolic soda-like fizz. When metallic alcohol burn subsides, plentiful floral accents affect wood-chipped sawdust respite; finishing sturdily with yellow-fruited abundance.

(DU BOCQ) BLANCHE DES MOINES WHITE ALE
ST. BERNARDUS BLANCHE WITBIER
Heavily turbid pale straw ‘white wheat’ beer with disappointingly vapid nose gets dull after a few sips. Lacking fullness and follow-through, its initial orange-lemon peel tang and gentle coriander-spiced hop sparkle evade bitterness, softening earthen wheat contingent before subtle sour-candied banana finish dupes weak yellow fruited skid.
ITHACA PARTLY SUNNY WHEAT ALE
Vivacious light-bodied straw-glowed summertime session beer with slight turbidity retains infectious lemony clove-coriander influence, flirty banana uplift and peppery Belgian yeast-like spunk above sturdy cracked wheat base. Floral peppermint-ginger curiosity enlightens mouth-puckering hard candy tartness, cloaking petty vinous acidity.
